There are more ways than ever to stay updated on City of Olathe news and events.
Vote to Help Make Olathe Parks Even Better
Olathe residents already enjoy the best parks around, and now you have the opportunity to help make our parks even better. The National Recreation and Parks Association, in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company, including Disney Citizenship, Disney|ABC Television Group and ESPN, recently announced the Meet Me at the Park initiative to revitalize parks across the U.S. One city that receives the most nominations from community members will receive a $20,000 grant to improve local parks.
Beginning April 1, Olathe residents can nominate Olathe, KS, once per day through the Meet Me at the Park website. Residents can participate daily to help increase Olathe’s chance of winning. Every time you nominate Olathe, you will be entered to win a tablet outfitted for the outdoors from Disney.
Olathe is home to more than 35 neighborhood and community parks, including the 208-acre Lake Olathe Park, three community gardens and nearly 26 miles of trails. Each park, garden and trail helps our residents Get Active, connect with other community members and stay healthy in their daily lives.
“Parks are critical in the formation and continued ‘connecting’ of residents in our communities,” said Michael Meadors, Olathe Parks & Rec Director. “They are the gathering places that will survive long past the latest trend hangouts. They’re where the social and physical health of a community can best be measured.”
Olathe takes pride in the continued improvement of our community’s parks, as evident by the ongoing Lake Olathe and Cedar Lake projects. The $20,000 Meet Me at the Park grant would help support ongoing improvements the City of Olathe is making to our already wonderful parks.
