City Manager to present proposed budget

Post Date:06/18/2018

City Manager Michael Wilkes will present the proposed 2019/2020 operating budget, 2019/2020 rates and fees, and the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to the City Council for consideration at the June 19 City Council meeting. The City of Olathe operates under a two-year budget term, which allows for better long-range planning and enhanced program analysis.

A CIP workshop with project managers on hand to discuss key projects will precede the proposed 2019/2020 budget presentation. Council will have the opportunity to validate CIP priority projects or change the project focus areas if necessary.

The public is encouraged to attend the June 19 City Council meeting, as well as each of the following workshops and hearings:

  • July 10 – Budget Workshop #1
  • July 17 – Budget Workshop #2 (Olathe Community Center)
  • July 24 – Budget Workshop #3
  • July 31 – Budget Workshop #4 (Tentative – Olathe Community Center)
  • August 7 – Public Hearing
  • August 21 – Budget Adoption

The public is invited to send budget comments to the City by sending an email to BudgetComments@OlatheKS.org, via the Budget topic in OlatheConnect, or on Facebook and Twitter.

The complete proposed budget, CIP, and other budget documents will be available for the public at OlatheKS.org/Budget after the budget presentation.
