Use of fireworks prohibited in Olathe

Post Date:06/25/2020 11:08 AM

To keep families safe, the possession, sale or use of fireworks in Olathe is prohibited. Some sparklers, a holiday favorite, can burn at temperatures of up to 1800º Fahrenheit, which is as hot as volcano lava. “Let’s help ensure a safe and patriotic holiday by leaving fireworks to the professionals,” said Fire Chief Jeff DeGraffenreid.

Professionals take extensive safety precautions and follow many regulations when creating spectacular fireworks displays.

Olathe’s public fireworks display is Saturday, July 4, at approximately 9:45 p.m. at the College Boulevard Activity Center (11031 S. Valley Parkway). Learn more about Olathe’s display at OlatheKS.org/Fireworks.

To report a non-emergency fireworks complaint, call Police Dispatch at 913-782-0720.
