City of Olathe crews are preparing for the latest winter storm event. Forecasts call for light snow to arrive  between 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday, gradually picking up in intensity through early Sunday morning.

Bands of moderate-to-heavy snow are possible through early Sunday morning with most snow accumulation between 2 to 8 a.m. The snow should gradually taper off throughout the morning, coming to an end by midday Sunday.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, night shift crews will be pre-treating roads with salt and continue working throughout the night, plowing snow until streets are clear. Day shift crews will report for duty at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, and crews will continue to rotate on 12-hour shifts as necessary.

Wind gusts up to 30 mph could cause blowing and drifting snow throughout Sunday. Expect road slickness at the first snowfall with roads below freezing due to extremely cold temperatures. Please use extreme caution if you are out and about.
