Olathe water quality unaffected by flooding concerns
The City of Olathe’s water quality is unaffected by the flooding concerns along the Missouri River in the northern parts of the Kansas City metro. Olathe’s untreated source water is obtained from wells located along the Kansas River near DeSoto.
Surface water from the Kansas River filters through the ground into the wells, naturally removing contaminants. As a result, environmental events like flooding have less of an impact on Olathe water quality.
The City of Olathe produces safe, quality drinking water, meeting or exceeding all state and federal health and safety measures. The City conducts more than 90,000 tests each year to detect and remedy any health safety or water quality issues.
