Olathe in search of Christmas tree donation
The holidays may still be a couple of months away, but the City of Olathe is already preparing for a season of festive events, including Celebrate Olathe and the lighting of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree on Friday, Dec. 6.
In recent years, families have graciously donated a blue spruce tree to be decorated and lit with hundreds of colorful lights in Stagecoach Park. This year, the City is asking community members to consider donating a blue spruce if they have one that has outgrown its space or is no longer needed on their property.
The tree must be at least 20 to 30 feet tall and in good condition. If your tree is chosen, you will receive free removal, free stump grinding, and recognition at the lighting ceremony. The donation can be considered a tax write off.If you have a blue spruce tree you would like to be considered for donation, please contact City Arborist Rick Spurgeon at 913-971-9725 or Parks & Rec Superintendent Marty Behm at 913-971-9703.
