Register for the Lake Olathe Triathlon
The City of Olathe will hold the first Lake Olathe Triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Lake Olathe Park. The Lake Olathe Triathlon is a short course race sanctioned by USA Triathlon, featuring a 500 meter swim, 10.3 mile bike ride, and 2.7 mile run throughout and around Lake Olathe. The TriKC Junior Triathlon will also take place Saturday, Sept. 21, following the adult race.
Registration is still open and will be available through Friday, Sept. 20. Registration is $100. For more information on routes and registration, visit OlatheKS.org/LakeOlatheTri.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for transition areas, refreshments, aid station, packet pick-up, and event booths. In-kind donations are also welcome. Submit a request via Olathe Connect to become a sponsor or to learn more about available opportunities.
Lake Olathe Park park will be closed until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, including the boat ramp on the west side. The Marina will be closed all day Saturday and will re-open Sunday at 11 a.m. The south entrance to the park at Dennis Ave. will be closed during the event. Athletes and spectators can enter the north entrance at Santa Fe St. and Ward Cliff Dr.
Although the majority of the race will take place inside the park, Dennis Ave., Moonlight Rd., Santa Fe St., and Hedge Ln. roadways will be effected Saturday morning for the bike portion of the race. All neighborhoods and drives will have access, but there may be delays.
