Mulch and compost material temporarily unavailable

Post Date:03/31/2020

Due to high demand for compost and mulch at the Compost Facility, the City is currently out of material. Staff is estimating several weeks before material will be available again.

The Compost Facility will remain open for Olathe residents to recycle yard waste at no charge. Please practice social distancing recommendations from the CDC when disposing of yard waste by staying at least six feet away from other residents. Visit the yard waste recycling page for more information about the Compost Facility location and hours.

As stated previously, due to CDC recommendations and employee safety, curbside yard waste collection has temporarily been suspended in order to social distance employees and reduce exposure to potentially contaminated materials. Yard waste will not be accepted in trash or recycling carts.

Visit OlatheKS.org/Coronavirus for more information about how trash, recycling, and yard waste services are impacted by COVID-19.
