Refresh your water before re-opening your business!

Post Date:05/04/2020

As some businesses may begin to re-open, now is the time to refresh your water.

During recent closures, the water in pipes, hot water heaters, and holding tanks has been sitting idle. When first used again, this water may appear cloudy or have an unpleasant taste or odor. To prevent any adverse health issues, flush new water through pipes before re-opening.

To do this, run hot water through each faucet for several minutes until clean water is flowing. The Center for Disease Control provides more information about business water safety on

Additionally, there may be a slight sewer gas smell. This is due to the drains drying out from lack of water usage. To get rid of this smell, pour water down each drain and open doors and windows to air out the building.
