Susan Sherman started working for Olathe in May 1989, and she was promoted to assistant city manager in 1994. She currently is responsible for the day to day operations of police, fire, parks & recreation, and information technology services.
Sherman earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in public administration from the Edwin O. Stene Public Administration Program at the University of Kansas.
Sherman represents the City of Olathe with the following organizations:
- Kansas Association of City/County Management, serving as a board member
- International City/County Management Association (ICMA), serving as the Mountain Plains Regional Vice President for the ICMA Board
Sherman has been recognized in the following areas of community service:
- ICMA Assistant Excellence in Leadership Award in memory of Buford M. Watson Jr., 2006
- ICMA Career Development Award in Memory of L.P. Cookingham, 2014
Sherman is married to Fred Sherman and they have two children.
